The Department of Neurosurgery of the Brno University Hospital and Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University celebrates thirty years since its foundation. For more than half of this time, it has been managed by Professor Martin Smrčka, who in 2005 succeeded his father, Vladimír Smrčka, who was the head for the previous nine years. In addition, Martin Smrčka has served as President of the Czech Neurosurgical Society for the past four years and is still active as a trainer and lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University.
