Masaryk University celebrated its 105th anniversary with two sports and social events that took place on the university campus in Bohunice in mid-May.
On Wednesday 15 May, the first edition of the MUNI RUN took place on the Bohunice Campus. It was attended not only by MUNI students and employees, but also by athletes from the general public, including children.
The Masaryk University budget for 2024 amounting to CZK 11.8 billion was approved by the MU Academic Senate at its 278th session on Monday. Compared to the previous year, the budget has increased by CZK 1.8 billion.
On Wednesday, 15 May, the first year of the MUNI RUN will take place on the university campus in Bohunice. Participation is open to the general public – adults, children, students and MU employees. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the MUNI HELPS Volunteer Centre.
Last week Masaryk University welcomed a rare delegation of almost forty academic and non-academic staff from ten Ukrainian universities who came to Brno to receive training in hybrid teaching.

The second edition of MUNI DAY will be a sporting and social event for the entire academic community. The Rector has declared the 16th of May as a University holiday for students. Employees may attend with the approval of their supervisor.
In addition to changes reflecting legislative developments, the new MU Study and Examination Regulations feature more concise and understandable wording, reflect recent teaching practices at MU and harmonise terminology with other university internal regulations.
This year, the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Informatics will receive an important award to motivate talent among students and researchers, to strengthen the positive relations with science and to highlight the work of teachers. In terms of financial rewards, the competition is one of the most important in the Czech Republic.
A better understanding of Alzheimer's disease, testing the effects of substances on male fertility and investigating markers for the early detection of prostate cancer are among the areas of research for which doctoral students at the New Town Hall in Brno have been awarded scholarships to further their scientific work.
The laying of the foundation stone marked the beginning of the construction of the new educational infrastructure of Masaryk University and the new location of the Faculty of Pharmacy.
