The management of Masaryk University follows the European Union's gender equality goals for 2021-2030 (Equality Union: Strategy for Gender Equality 2020-2025) and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports' Gender Equality Support Plan 2021-2024. MU adopts a variety of measures to promote gender equality as part of the University's strategic commitment to the principles of transparency, equality and accountability, while at the same time reconciling the work and personal lives of all its employees and students. The University is fulfilling this commitment at the level of its units and through the activities of the University as a whole.
Faculty of Medicine is actively involved in both the preparation and implementation of the following activities.
Gender equality means equal visibility, equal status and equal participation of both sexes in all spheres of public and private life. Gender equality is the opposite of gender inequality, not gender differences, and aims to promote the full participation of women and men in society (Council of Europe definition).
Differences between men and women are biological and social in nature.
The Gender Equality Plan 2025 - 2028 provides a framework for the development and implementation of effective measures to achieve gender equality priority areas at MU and within MU units.
In 2024, the Faculty of Medicine was working on a gender audit, the aim of which is to analyse the faculty's approach to individual processes in terms of ensuring equal opportunities and planning support activities in this area. The audit also served as a basis for the development of the Masaryk University Gender Equality Plan 2025-2028

economic benefits - part of the conditions for funding from providers (Horizon Europe, TAČR)
as an HR Award holder, we have an obligation to demonstrate the achievement of gender balance
