Equal opportunities
Since its foundation, Masaryk University has always respected and professed democratic values. These values still form the basis of its internal culture and are widely shared by the University's academic community. These values include respect as the basis of the internal culture, mutual respect, solidarity and partnership in all dealings, and respect for the principles of equality of opportunity and transparency.
In its Strategic Plan for 2021 - 2028, Masaryk University focuses, among other things, on developing various forms of support for opening educational opportunities for applicants with health, social and other disadvantages, creating an environment for interdisciplinary opportunities and student collaboration, as well as creating a motivational environment by rewarding exceptional quality and exceptional work performance, providing equal opportunities and conditions for individual development and career growth of employees, and supporting the reconciliation of work and personal life.
We provide assistance to students with specific needs
The Teiresiás Centre for Assistance to Students with Specific Needs is a university-wide department of Masaryk University. Its task is to ensure that courses of study accredited by the University are accessible to students with sensory or other disabilities.
Equal Opportunity Panel
The Equal Opportunity Panel is an advisory body to the Rector, which deals primarily with issues of gender equality and non-discrimination, not only with gender discrimination and equal access to women in science or in leadership positions, but also with other cases of inequality, for example in access to people with different disabilities or age discrimination.
The panel is composed of seven members and mainly deals with external input. These can be submitted by anyone, in writing and only non-anonymously. If there is a breach of the principles of equality and non-discrimination, the panel can decide to publish the case.
