MetaChange: Innovative Research on the Effect of Post-Decisional Information on Metacognition and Decision Making Presented at ASSC27

The MetaChange project explores the effect of post-decisional information on the cognitive and metacognitive components of decision-making using online experiments, electrophysiological recordings, and computational modelling. The initial results, presented at the ASSC27 congress in Tokyo, revealed a significant impact of this information on participants' confidence and changes of mind. The project is funded by the Horizon Europe program, specifically the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA PF). Prof. MUDr. Milan Brázdil, PhD leads the project.

This original and innovative project combines large-scale online psychophysics experiments, invasive electrophysiological recordings in epileptic patients, and computational modelling to create a comprehensive picture of the effect of post-decisional information on decision-making. "Thanks to the MSCA program, we developed a new decision-making paradigm design to explore these effects. We showed that such information had a drastic impact on the level of confidence and the frequency of changes of mind of our participants," said postdoc Dorian Goueytes from the First Department of Neurology, LF MU and St. Anne's University Hospital in Brno. The findings received great feedback from the community and were well-received at the ASSC27 congress.

The MetaChange project aims to address some of the most current challenges in decision-making and metacognition through an interdisciplinary and synthetic approach. We thank everyone who attended the presentation and provided valuable feedback.
