Despite decades of mammalogical research, there are still unresolved taxonomical and biogeographical issues. Crocidura shrews are among the most diversified and the least explored mammals, despite their important ecological and epidemiological role. Evolutionary relationships of C. goliath and C. olivieri, common sympatric African species, are unresolved. Using genomic data over Central Africa, their species status, distribution, and diversification patterns will be clarified.
