The aim of the project is to increase the effectiveness of social work with the family at risk of social exclusion provided by family assistants. Unfortunately, the number of families unable
to meet the challenges of the reality and cope with their everyday life for various reasons is very high in our society. Family assistant is a new profession and a new service in polish family support system (as a part of polish social welfare). The main tasks of the family assistnts includes preventing the family from foster - care placement of children or/and enabling the return of children to their
homes. Such a specific field of activity should be managed by a highly qualified employee with broad knowledge on the family, on problems related to fulfilling the role of a parent, on parental attitudes, on upbringing, socialisation and functioning of the family system, on the ethics of aid, so the knowledge in the sphere of family sociology, sociology of education, pedagogy of family, social pedagogy, social psychology and – most of all – knowledge of social work.
