Currently, the computer graphics is used in many field, from modern computer games, through the movie industry, up to the systems of virtual reality. But each field requires to employ those visualization algorithms that are specific just for the field, e.g. real-time local illumination processed by pipeline architecture, photorealistic rendering based on the physical principles of energy propagation or integration of 3D visual information with haptics and other human senses. Concrete systems therefore use their own specific and often monolithic solutions that are suitable for target domain but not easily extensible or modifiable.
The goal of the research is therefore to analyse and disassemble visualization algorithms and to find a generic architectures and software components that are interconnecting various target domains. The research project will use concepts of modern object-oriented analysis, particularly UML and design patterns.
