Velvet Innovation Meetup at SIMU: Innovation, Networking, and Top Projects
The modern Simulation Centre of the Faculty of Medicine at Masaryk University hosted this year’s Velvet Innovation Meetup, attracting over 160 participants. Organized by the South Moravian Innovation Centre (JIC) in cooperation with the faculty, the event featured a pitch contest of innovative projects, a tour of SIMU's advanced technologies, and ample networking opportunities. The evening’s winner was the Spicy Cells project from the Faculty of Science, MU, but other projects, including the Centre of Excellence CREATIC, also stood out.
Velvet Innovation Meetup, hosted by the modern Simulation Centre of Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University (SIMU), attracted over 160 participants and offered a unique experience full of innovation, networking and inspiration. These regular non-formal meetings, organised by the South Moravian Innovation Centre (JIC), this time in cooperation with the Faculty of Medicine, represent the best of the innovation ecosystem in South Moravia.
Firstly, participants were welcomed by Vice Dean Tomáš Kašpárek and, besides an exciting pitch competition during which 10 innovative projects were presented, participants could enjoy a tour of SIMU. Visitors could look into special simulation rooms where future doctors train their skills in real situations. This enhanced the overall impression of the event, as SIMU, with its equipment and technology, demonstrates how advances in teaching can help push the boundaries of medicine.
One of the presented projects was the Centre of Excellence CREATIC, which was well presented by Dr. Lenka Součková. With her presentation on clean rooms, drug production and research in gene and cell therapy, Lenka managed to impress so much that she won second place in the voting for the most interesting project of the evening.
The winner of the competition was the Spicy Cells project from the Faculty of Science of MU, presented by Matej Zámečník. This project was also the winner of the Start Your Business 2024 competition. Other presentations included CEITEC - Cybernetics and Robotics or TecuMed (all presented projects can be found here). In addition to the competition, there was informal networking and investment speeddating, which allowed participants to make new contacts, share experiences and develop collaborations.
Participants evaluated the Meetup very positively, so if you missed it this time, don't miss the next Velvet Innovation Meetup, which will again offer the opportunity to penetrate the world of the hottest innovations, this time at KUMST: Creative Hub Brno on 16 January 2025!
