Graduates of the Interdisciplinary Therapy in Neurorehabilitation course will gain special competence in neurorehabilitation and thus acquire theoretical and practical skills for work in rehabilitation institutions or in newly established Neurorehabilitation Intensive Care Units, where they will provide care to patients after acquired brain damage such as stroke or brain trauma. The ongoing Masaryk University Faculty of Medicine course is very intensive, participants must complete three theoretical modules and one practical module of 230 hours. The participants - physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and general nurses - completed the first module focused on neurointensive care, which was completed by 16 participants.
The organizers believe that this emerging expertise, the continuous progress in neuroscience, and the satisfaction of the participants will attract more interested non-medical health professionals in neurorehabilitation education. The next training module is planned for the fall of 2024. In the interim, participants will have the opportunity to receive at least some hands-on training with healthcare providers.
