On 5 March, a lecture on healthy nutrition and plant-based diet was held by MUDr. Radana Dymáčková, PhD. and Mgr. Dagmar Štruncová from PAN Czech Republic, which organized the event in cooperation with IFMSA CZ Brno. The participants learned how important good nutrition is, how it helps to prevent civilization diseases and what the latest findings in the field of healthy eating are.
In the first part, Dr. Dymáčková presented the importance of plant-based diet and its impact on health. She stressed that a large part of the population in the Czech Republic does not consume enough fruit, vegetables and whole grain products, which can have a negative impact on health. The second part offered practical tips and comparison of different diets. The audience appreciated the specific advice on how to create a healthy diet and how to easily incorporate more plant-based foods into their diet.
The lecture included a rich tasting of sweet and savoury plant products, which was a great success.
"The lecture was very well received and we hope that it will eventually reach even more people in the future. Those interested in plant-based diets or just a healthy lifestyle can contact the organisers, who will be happy to involve them in one of the upcoming projects," says Helena Hauerlandová from IFMSA CZ Brno.
We should all make sure to eat more healthy food. It doesn't have to be just about plant-based food, but about the overall variety and quality of the diet. The spring season is a great opportunity to include more fresh ingredients and light meals in your diet.
