Dean Martin Repko received Ambassador Hideo Suzuki and Minister of Health of the Czech Republic Vlastimil Válek on Monday 18 December 2023. Together they discussed the possibility of cooperation in research with Japanese universities and the differences between the Czech and Japanese health care systems. They addressed the issue of telemedicine, which is already used in practice in Japan, electronization of health care and modern technologies of diagnostic and medical care.
The discussion was also attended by three 5th year General Medicine students from Japan, of which there are approximately one hundred at the Faculty. In a friendly atmosphere they discussed their experiences and life in the Czech Republic, cultural differences and satisfaction at Masaryk University. Subsequently, the delegation was accompanied by representatives of the management to the teaching of foreign students at the Department of Anatomy in the framework of the dissection exercise.
Finally, the visitors headed to the Simulation Centre, where they briefly stopped at the emergency room, visited the dental teaching facilities and had the opportunity to see several simulators, including a newborn incubator, on the hospital floor of the centre. The delegation was guided through the centre by doc. Martina Kosinová, deputy head of the Institute of Simulation Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the Medical University. Ambassador Suzuki expressed his admiration for the overall concept of the centre and its teaching methods.
