From October, students of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University will use the simulation center or training hospital. Future doctors should gain experience before starting practice.

The newly emerging Simulation Center of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University is a workplace where medical students learn clinical skills in a safe environment without the risk of harm to the patient. The simulation center provides the background for the application of a wide range of modern teaching methods of simulation medicine. The introduction of practical examinations in the teaching of medical students (so-called OSCE - Objective Structured Clinical Examination) at LF Mu is, among other things, supported by the SIMUportfolio platform, which is developed by the Webstudio IBA LF MU team. This platform was presented in detail at this year's CSEDU conference, which took place on 2. - 4. May 2020. We do not mention the venue this time, as the event took place completely online.

Especially during the current epidemiological crisis, restriction of public movement and contact education at all universities, it is important to maintain as much clinically-oriented instruction as possible, not only undergraduate but also postgraduate.

This webinar introduced our experience in the domain of technology-enhanced learning in medical and healthcare education in relation to international guidelines and standards guaranteed by MedBiquitous. 

Part of the MUNI 4.0 expert team, which covers first aid and propedeutics courses, together with the OSCE technical team, visited the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.

Within the cooperation of the Faculty of Medicine with Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin, Slovakia, a working meeting was held with the aim of sharing experience in the implementation of two specific agendas that significantly innovate teaching in the Simulation Center being built.

In the autumn 2020, the new building of the MU Faculty of Medicine will welcome the first students to start studying general medicine or dentistry. The simulation center, which will also include the so-called training hospital, will change the teaching of medicine to an extent that is unique in Europe.
