SIMUportfolio platform as support for OSCE

The introduction of practical examinations in the teaching of medical students (so-called OSCE - Objective Structured Clinical Examination) at LF Mu is, among other things, supported by the SIMUportfolio platform, which is developed by the Webstudio IBA LF MU team. This platform was presented in detail at this year's CSEDU conference, which took place on 2. - 4. May 2020. We do not mention the venue this time, as the event took place completely online.

No description

The SIMUportfolio platform is based on a detailed parametric description of the entire medical curriculum and integrates the tools available to support teaching. For the purposes of the OSCE, it provides in particular a description of the station where the specific practical test takes place, instructions for assessors, students and any "patients", the test schedule, automatic evaluation of test results and their archiving and comparison.
According to the authors of the paper, which is available online, the development and fulfillment of the platform, of course, as well as the subsequent preparation of the OSCE, requires a certain amount of time on the part of teachers and teaching guarantors. However, this investment is subsequently returned in the form of effective and objective practical testing of students, which will become an integral part of teaching within the newly built Simulation Center of the Medical Faculty of Masaryk University.
