The Simulation Centre of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University has come up with its first tangible results. The state-of-the-art facility, unique in Europe, has already seen more than 5,000 students since the foundation stone was laid four years ago and four semesters of teaching medical and healthcare programmes have taken place.

On Monday, 16 May 2022, another of the internal Adult Learning and Basic Course of Debriefing (ABCD course) for SIMU lecturers under the guidance of Jana Djakow, Ph.D. and MUDr. Tereza Vafkova took place. The course was mainly aimed at practical training in discussion facilitation and debriefing simulations focusing on a variety of topics, and technical and non-technical skills.

An interactive course full of workshops dealing with a highly sought after topic – this is the new Palliative Care and End of Life Decision Making in the ICU.

A team of lecturers from KARIM FN Brno and FM MU, KDAR FN Brno and FM MU and ÚSM FM MU prepared high-fidelity simulations on acute conditions in the operating room from the perspective of an anaesthesiologist. Twenty-four anaesthesiologists from all over the Czech Republic and Slovakia have completed this course in the first year of its existence.

Midwives must be able to manage any unexpected situation. Practicing and training the acquired skills moves them to effective problem solving, strengthens their competencies, increases their work confidence, makes life saving more effective and improves teamwork.
