How to improve the situation of women in science? Best practice examples from Czechia and Germany. Invitation to a Café Collaborations event. 

The Velvet Innovation Meetup, hosted in October at the MU Faculty of Medicine Simulation Centre, attracted over 160 participants. The event, organised by the South Moravian Innovation Centre (JIC) in collaboration with the faculty, offered an innovative project competition, a tour of advanced technologies at SIMU and rich networking. The winner of the evening was the Spicy Cells project from the Faculty of Science of MU, but other featured projects, including the CREATIC Centre of Excellence, were also of interest.

Despite the fact that women now represent a significant part of the academic community, their career development in this field often faces a number of obstacles that prevent them from developing their full potential. Why is the issue of gender in academia so important? What are the key barriers that prevent women from reaching senior positions? Do you know what the Queen Bee syndrome or the glass ceiling effect is? Here's an overview of the most interesting information and concepts.

In recent months, the Faculty of Medicine has been working on a gender audit to analyse the Faculty's approach to individual processes in terms of ensuring equality of opportunity and planning support activities in this area. The audit also serves as a basis for the development of the Masaryk University Gender Equality Plan 2025-2028.

On this day, the MU Counselling Centre MU has prepared a Wellbeing day conference for MU students, which will offer an opportunity to learn more about the importance of mental health and ways to take care of your mental well-being and build mental resilience.
