Meeting of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University
At the first Scientific Council meeting of the Faculty of Medicine this year, two qualification proceedings were discussed.
On 23 January 2025, the first Scientific Council meeting of the Faculty of Medicine took place this year in the SIMU building. At the outset, Dean Repko and Vice-Dean Kala extended their best wishes for the new year, after which the Scientific Council discussed two qualification proceedings:
- The proposal to appoint doc. MUDr. Alexander Poprach, PhD, lecturer at the Clinic of Comprehensive Oncological Care of the Faculty of Medicine and Masaryk Memorial Oncology Institute, as a professor in the field of Oncology. The chair of the assessment committee presented the proposal, Prof. MUDr. Pavel Šlampa, CSc. The candidate presented a lecture to the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Medicine members on the topic "Renal and Urothelial Tumours - Current Possibilities in Diagnosis, Treatment, Prediction and Prognosis".
- The proposal to appoint MUDr. Irena Andršová, Ph.D., a clinical assistant at the Internal Cardiology Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine and Brno University Hospital, as an associate professor in the field of Internal Medicine. The chair of the habilitation committee presented the proposal, Prof. MUDr. Jiří Vítovec, CSc. The candidate then presented a lecture to the Scientific Council members on "Electrocardiography for the 21st Century - Beneath the Surface and into the Future".
The Scientific Council of the Faculty of Medicine proposed to appoint doc. MUDr. Alexander Poprach, Ph.D. as a professor in the field of Oncology and MUDr. Irena Andršová, PhD as an associate professor in the field of Internal Medicine. Both proposals will be submitted to the Rector of Masaryk University.
The meeting also discussed topics related to the upcoming government support for non-medical fields and the implementation of the proposed amendment to the Higher Education Act.
In conclusion, Dean Repko thanked the Scientific Council members for their attendance and informed them of the next meeting date, which will take place on 27 March 2025.
