Martin Repko elected to the leadership of the prestigious professional society
Professor Martin Repko, Head of the Orthopaedic Clinic at the Faculty of Medicine and Medical University in Brno, has achieved significant success at the international level. He was elected to two executive committees of the prestigious American Scoliosis Research Society at the World Spondylosurgical Congress in Barcelona. His election not only confirms the high professional level of Czech medicine but also ensures that he will play a key role in shaping the education and development of specialists in the treatment of spinal deformities worldwide.
Prof. Martin Repko, M.D., PhD, Head of the Orthopaedic Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine and Medical Faculty of the Medical University of Brno (ORTK), had an extraordinary success at the just concluded annual World Spondylo-Surgical Congress in Barcelona. He was elected to two executive committees of the prestigious international Scoliosis Research Society (SRS - www.srs.org), which since its foundation in 1966 has become the most important organization in the world dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of spinal deformities in children and adults. The SRS currently has 1,684 members from 68 countries and is one of the most prestigious forums for top experts in the field.
For the next three years, Professor Repko will chair the Regional Course Committee, organising specialist training courses for spondyloarthritis specialists worldwide. "These courses make a significant contribution to the development of expertise in the field and allow for effective knowledge sharing across continents," said Professor Repko.
In addition, he was also elected chair of the Annual Meeting Scientific Program Committee for the following year. This committee is responsible for preparing the SRS Annual Congress, where more than a thousand scientific communications and the latest research in the diagnosis and treatment of spinal deformities are presented each year.
The election of Professor Repko to both committees is not only a great personal achievement but also a recognition of the high level of the Czech orthopaedic clinic of the Brno University Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine, which is one of the world's leading institutions in the treatment of spinal deformities. The clinic provides regular training for foreign experts, and Professor Repko regularly lectures at international forums. In addition, he is often invited as a top surgeon to various countries to pass on his experience and lead surgical teams in challenging procedures.
