On the threshold of the New Year - with gratitude, hope and together
Amidst the hustle and bustle and fatigue of the end of the year, there is an opportunity to pause, reflect on the achievements and step into the next year with gratitude and hope.
The scholarship of forty thousand crowns has already been awarded to a second Norwegian student.
Martin Repko, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Masaryk University, and Lubomír Křivan, Vice Dean for English Studies and Internationalisation, presented the Martin Lenda Scholarship for the second time. The grant of 20 thousand NOK, or more than 40 thousand CZK, is available to Norwegian students who apply to study at the LF MU through the Interstudium agency. Last year's premiere recipient, Asad Sabarai, was followed by his compatriot Haidar Al-Shamery from Oslo, entering the first year of the General Medicine programme.
The initiative is backed by the Martin Lenda Foundation, whose family has close ties to Brno. That is why it decided to support compatriots coming to study in the South Moravian metropolis. The scholarship is intended to motivate future students to prepare thoroughly for the exams and, as future doctors, to arouse their interest in the mental health of patients. Beside that, it should also encourage students to choose to study in Brno if they are considering studying at other universities.
The Martin Lenda Foundation was founded by Jitka Lenda, Martin Lenda's mother, who decided after the tragic death of her son, a law student, to donate part of her five million assets to support students and raise awareness about mental health.
