Director of the CREATIC Centre of Excellence of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University and the National Research Infrastructure CZECRIN, doc. MUDr. Regina Demlová, Ph.D., D., Ph.D., was elected on 10 December 2024 in Paris as the new Chair of the Network Committee within the prestigious European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network (ECRIN-ERIC), aimed at the support and implementation of non-commercial clinical trials in the EU.
CREATIC as a centre of excellence in the development of cell and gene therapies in collaboration with ECRIN-ERIC creates a unique environment for the subsequent implementation of clinical research with drugs for advanced therapies, thus confirming its position on the European scientific scene. "This appointment is not only a personal achievement, but also a confirmation of the high quality of our work. The role of Network Committee Chair will enable us to better fulfil our mission to link cutting-edge research with concrete clinical applications," said the Director of the CREATIC Centre of Excellence. The involvement of MED MUNI in a key European infrastructure strengthens its role as a centre of excellence in research.
Role of the Chair of the Network Committee in ECRIN-ERIN
The ECRIN-ERIC Network Committee is an advisory body to the ECRIN-ERIC Assembly of Members and the ECRIN-ERIC Director General, bringing together experienced delegates of scientific partners from Member and Observer States. The main responsibility of the Network Committee is to plan the strategic development of the different clinical research areas of ECRIN-ERIC and to foster scientific collaboration at European level, including the promotion of participation in European research grants.
As Chair of the Network Committee, Assoc.prof. Demlová succeeds Prof. Christian Ohmann from Germany, who served as the Director of the Clinical Trials Coordination Centre (CCC) at the Heinrich Heine University Medical School in Düsseldorf since 1998.
CREATIC becomes ECRIN-ERIC European Consultation Centre for ATMP Clinical Trials
In this context, CREATIC and the Czech national infrastructure CZECRIN will become a key ECRIN-ERIC Consultation Centre for Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMP) clinical trials. This focus will promote international collaboration, ensure knowledge transfer and enable Czech scientists to actively participate in the development and evaluation of these innovative therapies.
Appointment of Assoc.prof. Demlová as the lead of the Network Committee opens up new opportunities not only for CREATIC, but also for other areas of clinical research development in the Czech Republic, especially the direction of European clinical trials in promising areas of development of modern therapies, establishing partnerships with leading European institutions and sharing know-how.
This success also follows the strategy of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic, which this year established cooperation with the National Research Infrastructure CZECRIN, with the idea of further development of Czech clinical research at the international level.
