The Representative Ball of the Faculty of Medicine at Masaryk University and the Medical Students' Association brought unforgettable experiences to Brno's Bobycentre. An evening full of dance, music, and awards for outstanding educators once again did not disappoint.
Brno's Zoner Bobyhall was transformed into a center of social events on February 28, 2025. The 27th Representative Ball of the Faculty of Medicine at Masaryk University and the Medical Students' Association took place here, a traditional event that brings unforgettable experiences every year.
This year's edition offered a rich program that satisfied all generations of visitors. From traditional opening dances and the announcement of the Academic of the Year award, to modern gymnastics and folk music with cimbalom.
The main hall was filled with dancing thanks to the band Eremy, which entertained guests throughout the evening with its broad repertoire. The traditional opening dance by the Medical Students' Association began the ball in an elegant style. This was followed by the ceremonial announcement of the Academic of the Year poll, where outstanding teachers from the Faculty of Medicine at MU were honored.
In the preclinical category, Xénie Budinská, Ph.D., won, and in the clinical category, doc. PhDr. Miroslav Světlák, Ph.D. Congratulations to all the award recipients!
This year's novelty was the breathtaking performance by Brno's modern gymnasts from SK MG Moravská Slavia Brno, which received great applause. Once again, the breathtaking artistic cycling performance was included, which was highly appreciated by many visitors last year.
Paris Hall was dominated by the Cimbalom Music Dyjavan this year, bringing a folk element to the ball and winning many visitors' hearts. In La Grotta, the swing rhythms of the band Mr. Kong and His Swinging Monkeys resonated, and popular swing dance lessons were also available.
First-year students participated in the traditional matriculation and competitions prepared for them. The announcement of a raffle with valuable prizes was also a matter of course.
An interesting feature of this year's edition was the fact that for all graphic materials of the ball - from invitations to the program booklet - three original artworks from last year's art competition, organized on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the Faculty of Medicine at MU and also the Medical Students' Association itself, the traditional organizer of the ball, were selected for the very first time. A total of 13 works from this competition made it into a special calendar covering 105 weeks in 2025 and 2026. This unique connection of artistic creation with the faculty's tradition highlighted the versatile talents of students, employees, and graduates and reminded of the rich history of Brno medicine.
The 27th Representative Ball of the Faculty of Medicine at MU and the Medical Students' Association was once again a success and offered a diverse program for all visitors. We look forward to the next edition and believe it will be at least as successful.
