Description A variety of epidemiological, clinical and experimental studies described the enhanced risk of different skin diseases among smokers, namely premature skin aging, poor wound healing, acne, psoriasis, eczema, hair lost, palmoplantar pustulosis, systemic lupus erythematodes. The brief overview offers the actual knowledge about associations between smoking and premature skin aging; that of smoking being twice as high as chronical exposure to sunburn. Causal relationships were verified, as many different mechanisms of action were found:mechanical, haemodynamic, morphological, biochemical. Such informations might be an important motivation for smoking cessation for smokers pride in the looks of them.
