Description The goal of this study is to verify the effectiveness of surgical treatment of idiopathic macular hole by pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) with internal limiting membrane peeling. The group included 12 patients. Follow up period was at least 3 months. Mean visual acuity was 0.98 logMAR. 3 months after surgery, the mean visual acuity was 0.77 logMAR. Improvement was achieved in 62%, stabilization in 31% and worsening in 7%. Vitrectomy with internal limiting membrane peeling is an effective method of treatment of idiopathic macular hole.
