Description Lifestyle is among the most important, the decisive factor in relation to health. Its share of overall health status is estimated at 60% - 70%. Unhealthy way of life has an impact on premature mortality, mainly due to cardiovascular and cancer diseases. Do lifestyle modifiable summary (susceptible) risk factors, ranks alongside physical activity, negatice smoking and alcoholism, obesity, diabetes and other nutrition and in particular eating habits. Many of the works published in professional journals is known that Slovakia and the Czech Republic ranks among countries with the highest incidence of cancer of the colon and rectum in the world. One reason the state is incorrect dietary habits, particularly the chronically low intake of vegetables, fruits, cereals and legumes. Low income, not only fiber but also antioxidants, which protect the organism against the action of free oxygen radicals. The current daily intake of fiber is estimated at 15 - 20 g (ideal would be at least 30 g daily). Compared with our ancestors is to a significant difference, which was not left without health consequences. The article is discussed in more detail the definition of fiber, its division into insoluble and soluble, the second fiber, fiber in the diet and its positive effect in the body.
