Description Results of management experiment has shown that in wet grasslands of the Bile Karpaty Mts the abandonment of mowing does not cause a dramatic fall in number of species per plot, because the vascular plant and moss species composition rapidly changes and competitive, nutrient requiring species spread. It is necessary to mow spring meadows enriched by nutrients at least once a year. It follows from our results that mowing twice a year moves the species composition and vegetation structure more to a fen habitat, which is ideal for endangered fen plants and animals.
