Description | The bronchopleural fistula with postpneumonectomy empyema is one of the most difficult complications in the thoracic surgery. The occurence after pneumonectomy is between 2 to 12%. The patients after chemo-radiotherapy are susceptible for this complication. The drainage, Elloesser pleural window with open sterilization, clean-up is usually used. The muscolobronchoplasty and Adews thoracomyopleuroplasty is the successful surgery definitive procedure. The lecture describe this surgery method and the case of the bronchopleural fistula and postpneumonectomy empyma with grave general complication.
