Description The pathophysiology of chronic venous insufficiency in large veins is well established. Deep or superficial veins besome incopmpetent, permitting reverse flow and resulting in raised pressure in the superficial veins. The reasons why this results in leg ulceration are proposed theory of pericapillary fibrin cuffs, theory of trapping of leucocytes and theory of transforming growth factor. In the article authors described clinical manifestation of CVI, diagnostic and therapy.
