Are you interested in developing modern technologies with potential use for the Czech Army, and excited about implementing a project in applied research?
In the second week of October, the Core Facility Day in Life Sciences was held at CEITEC MU. Two dozen professional departments focused on life sciences from six parts of Masaryk University presented themselves. FM MU presented 3 of its strategic projects.
Shared laboratories, i.e. Core Facilities, provide scientists and interested parties outside the university environment with modern instrumentation and a range of professional services necessary for research. This year's Core Facility Day in Life Sciences featured two dozen such facilities across the university.
Representatives of LF MU presented 3 ongoing projects that will soon offer their services to users from both academic and non-academic sectors.
The Head of the Institute of Pharmacology of LF MU presented theCREATIC Centre of Excellence project headed by. In her presentation, she introduced the visitors to its main goal and message, the issue of cell and gene therapies for rare diseases, the future offer of services of the CREATIC Centre and the current offer of services and expertise of the large research infrastructure CZECRIN, which is integrated into the organisational structure of CREATIC.
Marek Joukal, Head of the Institute of Anatomy of the Faculty of Medicine, then presented the project of the University Centre of Surgical Anatomy, which will be established at the aforementioned Institute. The Centre currently educates students and professionals, and in the future it should also offer the possibility of preclinical testing of surgical procedures, materials and devices before their use in clinical practice.
The last project presented was the MU Preclinical Centre, which was jointly presented by the Head of the Department of Histology and Embryology of the Faculty of Medicine and the Director of the Institute of Experimental Biology of the Faculty of Science, Vítězslav Bryja. The Centre will concentrate equipment and know-how for research on animal ("in vivo") and human/cellular ("ex vivo") models.

In recent months, the Faculty of Medicine has been working on a gender audit to analyse the Faculty's approach to individual processes in terms of ensuring equality of opportunity and planning support activities in this area. The audit also serves as a basis for the development of the Masaryk University Gender Equality Plan 2025-2028.
