PhD Day Q&A

I would like the faculty to look into our stipends clause.

The Faculty of Medicine has its own faculty regulations, as see in the presentation from the PhD Day called „Faculty rules for PhD candidates“. There is a link to the regulation called Scholarships Programmes at the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University.

I would like to discuss credits in detail. Like how many credits do I need to advance to the next semester? How many credits per year? What courses do I have to register?

As mentioned during the presentation, 20 credits are required to enrol in the next semester.

240 credits are required for graduation. The study takes 4 years, so ideally, you want to gain 60 credits per year / 30 credits per month.

Student has to complete at least four courses in four different fields of study courses of a common basis and complete at least four subject-area courses (within the competence of the doctoral board).

Pay for students working , workload , timings etc

There is no official timing or workload for PhD candidates. It depends on their agreement with the supervisor and the requirements of the Doctoral board. Students may receive a scholarship.

Where to find inspiration for creative and meaningful thesis?

Ideally in collaboration with a supervisor and possibly with the Doctoral board.

How to start, prerequisites and financial information about the course?

All course information can be found in the IS course catalogue. For specific information, you can of course contact the instructor or the course supervisor directly.

Is it possible to pursue a PhD while participating in a residency program abroad, similar to an MD-PhD pathway?

No, FM MU does not have an MD-PhD pathway. The PhD is a study of a doctoral program, which research focuses on research to expand knowledge. It is not an MD program anymore.
