Art competition da MEDici: We know the auction proceeds and we have a calendar!
The virtual auction brought in CZK 28,347.10 after tax and will contribute to the construction of the Memorial for Body Donors. Another amazing feat of the competition was the creation of the LF MU wall calendar for 2022.
Thank you for participating in the art competition called da MEDici, to which students, graduates and employees of LF MU contributed their works. We announced the art competition in spring 2021 and by the end of the summer we received 49 amazing works. The 13 most popular ones succeeded in the voting, from which we compiled a calendar. And we auctioned off all the artwork.
We combined the talents and efforts of students and graduates, both Czech and foreign, from undergraduate and graduate courses. During a busy time, we wanted to take our minds off everyday stress, worries, studying and work performance. We invited all our students, graduates and employees of LF MU to participate in the art competition da MEDici.
We displayed a total of 49 submitted works in one of the corridors of the campus for the delight of the eye of passers-by and started voting for the 13 most popular pieces. From these, we created the LF MU wall calendar for 2022 with the work that received the highest number of votes on the front page. During Advent, we launched an auction of the works on Facebook and all the funds raised are intended to support the construction of the Memorial to the Body Donors at Brno's Central Cemetery (more about the construction of the memorial here). A dignified place will be created in the form of a tomb with a mound dominated by a statue of the Virgin Mary. It will become a place of remembrance for the bereaved, where they can come to honour the memory of the deceased. The cremated remains of the donors' bodies are still scattered on the cemetery grounds in Brno, which creates a feeling of anonymity for many of the bereaved.
