April 2025 in Science at our Faculty
We bring you a selection of the most interesting things in science and research at our faculty in April 2025.
The wall calendar for 2022 is currently being made from the thirteen most voted for artworks of the da MEDici art competition. Simultaneously with the publication of the results, we will announce an auction, the proceeds of which will be donated to the construction of the Memorial for Body Donors.
We would like to announce the results of the voting for artworks, which you will be able to see in the wall calendar of the Faculty of Medicine MU for next year. We would like to congratulate and at the same time thank all those, who provided their time and talent in the form of the artwork they delivered for free. All of the artworks were on display in the corridor of University Campus Bohunice, where you could admire them, and you can still see them on the website of the art competition.
During this Advent season, we are coming to the final stage of the art competition da MEDici. And that is the auction of all the artworks, the aim of which is to support the collection for construction of the Memorial for Body Donors, which will be built at the Brno Central Cemetery. Since the beginning of the art competition project, our goal has been to support this idea. The topic of Anatomy, learning it and struggling with it is present in many of the artworks, so the entire proceeds of the auction will be used towards this cause as an expression of gratitude and respect to those, who have decided to donate their bodies and thus contribute to the quality education of Anatomy at our faculty. Until now, the bereaved did not have any dignified place, where they could go to light a candle and remember their relatives or friends. The students from Medical Students’ Association FM MU decided to change that and announced a collection for the Memorial last year. Together with our students not only from the Association but also from IFMSA and MIMSA, we organised an art competition as one of the activities, that can move the construction of the Memorial towards realization.
Participate in the online auction! You too can have some of the exhibited artworks at home, in your office or you can gift it as a Christmas present with a rare idea.
The auction takes place in a photo gallery on Facebook. You can choose the artwork you want to bid for and by doing that contribute to the collection for the Memorial for Body Donors until 20th December 2021, 23:59. Please take every bid seriously, it is a commitment to those, who donated the most valuable thing they could - their body - for educational and scientific purposes. Thank you.

The Department of Public Health, together with students from IFMSA, organized the 6th annual Hand Hygiene Day event on the campus of Masaryk University's Faculty of Medicine. Participants tried out the proper technique for hand disinfection and the use of gloves. This year's event reminded us that even when gloves are used, hand hygiene remains essential for preventing healthcare-associated infections.
