International Cooperation and Involvement of Masaryk University Medical Faculty
"The idea originated with our colleagues Tuan Anh Phan and Floor van Rosse from ErasmusMC in Rotterdam, who had already created similar videos and, based on positive feedback from students and instructors, decided to expand the range of topics covered," says PharmDr. Jitka Rychlíčková, the project investigator from Masaryk University Medical Faculty. "We really liked the idea. Moreover, we have excellent facilities for recording video lectures at the Medical Faculty, so we were very interested in joining this activity."
Thanks to the expertise and clinical experience of colleagues involved in the CP4T project, we took on the topics of antiemetics and oncology therapy. These two topics are closely related. We also coordinated the selection of medications with colleagues to ensure they are key drugs available simultaneously across Europe, which ensures the international transferability of materials. The oncology treatment section is particularly well-processed, covering medications from classic cytostatics to hormonal therapies and modern drugs.
CP4T: Support for Pharmacology Teaching
The main project investigators are Joost Piët and Erik Donker from UMC Amsterdam, with PharmDr. Adriana Papiež, Ph.D., MUDr. Filip Šiška, and other experts from Masaryk University Medical Faculty participating. The project aims to expand support for teaching pharmacology, clinical pharmacology, and pharmacotherapy in Europe. Video materials are part of a project package that includes a teacher's manual for team-based learning lessons and a planned interactive workshop.
Student-run Medication Review: International Case Discussions
Another important project activity is the student-run medication review (SRMR) – online meetings where students from different disciplines and countries analyze patient case studies, discuss various treatment approaches, and compare national guidelines. In addition to international meetings, Masaryk University Medical Faculty also organizes SRMR in Czech for students from Masaryk University and other universities. The last international SRMR took place on December 2, 2024, and the next Czech version is planned for February 18, 2025.
Updating WHO Guidelines and Masaryk University Medical Faculty in Teaching
The CP4T project is also involved in updating WHO guidelines – Guide to Good Prescribing and Teacher's Guide to Good Prescribing. These manuals are already used in teaching Applied and Clinical Pharmacology in the 5th year of General Medicine at Masaryk University Medical Faculty. Additionally, a professional publication has been created within the project, summarizing key findings and best practices in pharmacology.
The CP4T project thus provides teachers and students with the opportunity to engage in modern pharmacological education, emphasizing international cooperation and practical application of knowledge in clinical practice.
