The awareness-raising event "In a healthy Brno, a healthy tooth" once again attracted dozens of interested people from all generations who wanted to get valuable advice from dental students from Masaryk University. Thirty-three volunteers explained the techniques of proper tooth cleaning throughout the day, passed on information about prevention and supportive care, and offered practical demonstrations, for example, using single-bristle toothbrushes to clean the interdental spaces.
"Our aim is to make the public aware that a healthy tooth is not a matter of course, but the result of regular and proper care," says Vendula Vařeková, organiser of the event from the Association of Students of Dentistry of the Czech Republic. "We were very pleased to see the interest of not only adults and seniors, but also families with children. It is important to start prevention from an early age."
Thanks to the favourable weather, Moravské náměstí was also filled with tourists, who were offered information in English by the students. Those interested could visit the information tent where they had the opportunity to try out the technique of cleaning not only with a classic but also with an interdental brush and learn more about modern tools for perfect oral hygiene.
The main partners of the event were Curaprox, which provided professional aids and samples, and the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University, which provided equally important facilities. "We are glad that our initiative is meeting with such a positive response and that the public wants to know more about how to keep a healthy tooth," adds Vendula Vařeková.
