At its meeting on 15 May 2023, the Academic Senate of Masaryk University approved the filling of two Vice-Rector posts. The new Vice-Rectors are Jana Fialová from the Faculty of Medicine, where she served as Vice-Dean for student affairs, and Monika Jandová, the current Vice-Dean for internationalisation at the Faculty of Economics and Administration.
Jana Fialová said about her election as Vice-Rector: "I believe that I will make use of my experience, having been involved in such a special portfolio for many years. I would like to bring the current atmosphere, climate and internal communication, which we have managed to build at the Faculty of Medicine MU thanks to the current Rector and the former Dean of the Faculty Martin Bareš and further develop with the current Dean Martin Repko, to the university-wide level."
"During her time as Vice-Dean at the Faculty of Medicine MU, Vice-Dean Jana Fialová has stabilized and developed the entrusted professional portfolio in an absolutely excellent way. She has not only been a solid part of the FM MU management but also a wonderful partner in dealing with students and student associations, among many other activities. I wish the Vice-Rector a successful tenure at Masaryk University and I am firmly convinced that her work will further enrich the University and help its further development," says Martin Repko, Dean of FM MU.
The Dean of FM MU plans to entrust student affairs and the future Vice-Dean's post to Professor Eva Brichtová, who holds the position of deputy head of the Neurosurgery Department at FM MU and St. Anne's University Hospital in Brno. "Professor Brichtová has long been involved in student issues, is a popular teacher, actively participates in many student activities and I am convinced that she will be an excellent and beneficial member of the faculty management," Repko added about the changes. Prof. Brichtová accepts his choice, saying: "I very much appreciate the opportunity to actively participate in the development of the Faculty of Medicine MU, with which my entire professional life has been connected. I see cooperation with students as extremely important. I will try to create a friendly and creative environment based on open communication and mutual respect."
