Dr. Wilma van de Berg, Ph.D., is an associate professor, neuroanatomist and senior neuroscientist at Amsterdam UMC, where she leads the Clinical Neuroanatomy and Biobanking research section. With extensive expertise in human neuroanatomy, morphometry and 3D imaging, Dr. van de Berg focuses on the cellular mechanisms driving selective vulnerability and protein aggregation in neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s. She founded the Normal Aging Brain Collection Amsterdam (NABCA), which provides advanced postmortem MRI and high-quality brain tissue samples to support translational neuroscience research. Her work, which spans clinical neuroanatomy, neuroimaging and biobanking, aims to advance precision medicine by identifying novel biomarkers and molecular subtypes in neurodegenerative disorders.
