SIMU welcomed the first students
So here it is! In the first week of October, regular classes at SIMU began. Students of the first years of the Czech and English study programs of General and Dentistry were the first to look at SIMU. During the semester, they undergo practical exercises from first aid, which were completely innovated this year.
Interactive e-learning was prepared for students, which unified often very fragmented teaching resources. The e-learning also includes approximately 40 short videos that deal with the basic topics previously discussed in lectures. The entire teaching material also has its English version. The practical teaching itself takes place in four basic skills classrooms located on the 3rd floor of SIMU. Students are divided into groups of 5-6 people during the lessons, each group is in charge of one student lecturer during the exercises. Throughout the previous year, student lecturers were theoretically and practically prepared to conduct practical first aid instruction, and more than 100 students are currently being trained. During the exercises, student-lecturers give students pre-prepared simulations from the field of first aid, observe students when solving simulations and then lead a short structured debriefing. Thanks to the size of the individual groups, the lessons are very practical and each student will try not only the role of a first aid provider, but also the role of a standardized patient or, for example, an emergency services dispatcher. The whole teaching is supervised, especially from the professional point of view, by the teaching doctor, from the point of view of the organizational tutor of the simulation teaching.
