SIMU Junior Academy
At the last weekend in November, SIMU welcomed the participants of the first Junior Academy of Masaryk University when it became one of the stops during an excursion to selected departments at the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University called the "Day with Medicine".
You can read how the volunteers from among students of the Faculty of Medicine enjoyed the "Day with Medicine" here:
Martin Nagy, 1st-year student of General Medicine
Thanks to the "Day with Medicine", I had the opportunity to find the possibilities offered by our new SIMU. We prepared several short simulations for the applicants to try intubation of a patient, bronchoscopy, or ultrasound. We also tested their soft motor skills using the laparoscopy simulator. They were perfect and hopefully, we even answered their questions related to the entrance examinations. As assistants, we could learn new skills that we otherwise would not get to until years later. Once again, SIMU showed us its beauty and usefulness and motivated us to study.
Lucie Drápalová, 1st-year student of General Medicine
On Saturday, 27 November, I volunteered at the "Day with Medicine" in SIMU. Being a 1st-year student of General Medicine, I've only got to SIMU during First Aid and on two Anatomy classes. So, I didn't hesitate over the chance to get to know the Simulation Centre a bit more and meet potential future students of the FM. I got to try working with simulators that I would otherwise see in my later years at the faculty. It is the practical activities that we miss a lot in the first year. That's why I was very grateful to try intubation on a mannequin and other skills. In addition, a very nice and helpful interactive-teaching technician, Mgr. Lenka Divišová showed us around other rooms and introduced advanced simulators, which I had no idea were in SIMU. It's an excellent motivation for further studies to see what SIMU has on offer, as I already know what to look forward to in the years to come
