IFMSA Internships

  • the largest student exchange programme in the world; over 13,000 students from more than 100 countries participate each year
  • allows medical students to gain valuable experience abroad and learn how healthcare works in other countries
  • IFMSA provides two types of exchange internship programmes - clinical internships and research internships
  • these are four-week stays based on a bilateral principle - each student who comes to the Czech Republic for an internship thus allows one student from the Czech Republic to go abroad and vice versa
  • 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, students participate in a clinical practice or research project, where they are actively involved in the running of the workplace
  • weekends are usually dedicated to learning about the local culture, other educational activities and participation in local health projects (e.g. helping in areas without available health care)
