A sociologist and health economist will discuss how their respective fields address population health and health equity. Health equity aims for equal access to health resources and similar health outcomes, especially for underserved groups. Sociological research focuses on social determinants like income, education, gender, and race. Health economics examines healthcare organization, policies, costs, and system barriers. Drs. Dore and Horný will outline their approaches, followed by a discussion led by Dr. Jakub Hlávka from the Health Economics, Policy and Innovation Institute (HEPII) at Masaryk University.
