COMPUTERS
Late 1940’s - Mauchly & Eckert established the Eckert and Mauchly Electronic Control Company of Philadelphia. Using von Neuman’s stored-program technology, they developed the Universal Automatic Computer [UNIVAC] with 5000 vacuum tubes.
1951 - Remington Rand took over this company and completed the UNIVAC for use in the 1950 census. The UNIVAC was a decimal computer.
