The EPALS course is a European Resuscitation Council (ERC) certified course and is intended for all healthcare professionals who can be expected to be involved in the care of a critically ill child in the first 30-60 minutes (newborn, infant, older child), either in hospital or in pre-hospital care. The aim of the course is to equip participants with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to care for a child with respiratory or circulatory failure due to various causes, and to prevent the progression of a critical condition to cardiac arrest. The teaching emphasizes teamwork skills in resuscitation teamwork and leadership, communication and cooperation among health care professionals.
