- In the postgraduate study program for the National Center – Department of Medical Education, I have lectured to and trained participants of the course in vascular surgery, specialized in “Pedal Bypass Grafting for Treatment of Chronic Critical Limb Ischemia” (0612R). This course with a nation-wide scope is supervised by the Czech Medical Chamber.
- Scientific and Research Activities
- I am involved in research projects concerning vascular reconstructive, liver and endocrine surgery. Since 1994 I have cooperated with the Research Institute of Hosiery, Brno, in the development of novel vascular prostheses and their introduction in clinical medicine. Since 2000 I have specialized in vascular reconstructive surgery for the treatment of most serious stages of critical limb ischemia.
- I participate in the program (The Czech Republic – Research and Development for Economy and Society) of the University for Economy and Society. I am leading the project “ Pedal Bypass Grafting and its Role in Salvage of Limbs with Critical Ischemia”. The project has been included in the Projects of National Interest category.
- I am involved in the preparation of a project whose goal is to achieve a nation-wide coordination in vascular surgery care provided for patients with diabetic feet and, in this position, I collaborate with all major centers for vascular surgery in the Czech Republic.

I am the chief coordinator of an international project (Prolong II; University of Limerick, Ireland, funded by FI-IM2/068 INOVA) studying a new type of distal anastomosis to vascular prostheses.

- Centre for Applied Biomedical Engineering Research Dept., University of Limerick, Ireland - I am a coworker in the multi-center, international, randomized clinical study carried out by the 2nd Department of Surgery, 1st General Medicine/Cardio-Angiologic Department and Department of Imaging Methods. The study is entitled: Multi-Center, Multi-National, Randomized, Partial Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Study to Evaluate the Efficacy and Safety of Alfimeprase in Subjects with Acute Peripheral Arterial Occlusion (NAPA-2).
- I participate in the GALA Trial (international, multi-center, randomized study on general anaesthesia versus local anaesthesia for carotid endarterectomy).

- As the author or co-author I have published 51 original papers and four monographs. I am the author or co-author of 70 conference papers, of which 11 have been delivered at European or world conferences. My results have been quoted by 44 other authors. I have written many peer reviews and referee’s comments and have been the author of invited papers and lectures, and have also contributed to several monographs. On many occasions I chaired specialized sections at conferences and congresses.
