Standard, (or norm) comes into being by exactly defining the starting point and attaching measurable criteria and indicators of quality and efficiency to the guideline.- A standard can then be incorporated into a system of quality measurement and used for economical evaluation of provided care.- Each part is devised by different groups participating in health care.
Guideline forms a part of the standard. Its function is to describe the process, e.i. recommendation stating how to diagnose and treat a certain medical state.
